Lots of ink on display today
Some needled wrist to the elbow
One tattoo even found the top of a foot
Its design was mostly hidden within a black shoe
As for me
Not one of my nine for anyone to see
It’s amazing what loose 569 jeans
And a t-shirt make unavailable to others’ eyes
I did don one thing
That clearly demonstrated why I was there
A white wristband
Fashioned on my tell time side
A story usually reserved for blush face told
Lo and behold
I smiled today more than I frowned
Though there was a moment when tears filled my eyes
A young woman talked of her mom
Who was taken a half-year ago
I found myself remembering
What it feels like
To bury the one
That born me
I quickly wiped away
Water before a cry
I’m not just “Walking for Kelly” you see
Part of me breathes so it will be
Words behind the verse: white, black, tattoo and blush
