You sea
"I don't understand
How your mind works”

An otherwise meaningless line
Pulled delicately from a movie

Only to be placed within a satin tackle box
In a small fishing boat

One that wanders the deep water
That makes up the soul of me

You sea

Mind the oars
The means by which that humble vessel makes its way

To open ocean
Where the rains of your inspiration soak me

So completely
That my yellow rain coat clings to me for dear life

Storms the like of a eulogy
Are too intense to bear

The underbelly of waves don’t listen
While whitecaps a beacon might

Time to send a flare
Good beware

The lighthouse
Flashes a strobe signal for all to see

Motion suspended
Caught in the act of being me

“That’s the best I can explain it”

Words behind the verse: satin, strobe, soak and beacon
